Arc'teryx Backcountry Camp
This past weekend, we got together with nine of our Arc'athletes for three perfect days in the remote Vereina valley in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Even though we were just ten kilometers as-the-crow-flies from the famous ski resort of Davos, the area is extremely remote, with barely any signs of human existence during the winter months. We didn't find one single ski track and had the pristine steep faces and narrow couloirs all to ourselves.
Our base camp at two thousand meters above sea level gave us a perfect starting position to explore surrounding valleys and peaks. It snowed heavily on the first day and, unexpectedly, snow conditions were simply perfect. With only a moderate avalanche danger, the following two days were filled with earn-your-turn-sessions from early morning until late in the afternoon.
This backcountry camp gave us a great chance to catch up with our alpine athletes and test a lot of our latest gear – including a few prototypes that you'll hopefully be seeing in our upcoming collections. We shot plenty of photos and video that we'll use later this year to officially kick off the winter season. In the meantime, we've put a handful of great shots in an album on our Facebook page.
