AFGHAN SKI CHALLENGE BRAVES THE SITUATION

The second Afghan Ski Challenge on March 2nd, 2012, organized by the Bamiyan Ski Club, was challenging and exciting: On their 5 km round course in the Kuschkak valley, the athletes had to climb 600 meters uphill. Kalil Reza and Mohammad Nabi Abdula Aziz furiously fought for the first place, which Kalil Reza won with a total time of 44 minutes.

Due to their outstanding endurance, all locals, but one, were faster than the international participants, and with room for improved skiing skills next year could be just as tight a race. Among the first international participants, a Swiss, Gabriel Shohet, was first.
