Rémy Lécluse (1964-2012)
It is with deep sadness today that we post a final farewell to our friend and Arc’teryx team member Rémy Lécluse. Tomorrow afternoon, there will be a ceremony in Chamonix to pay tribute to Rémy and the other 2 mountain guides, Ludovic Challéat and Fabrice Priez, who died last week in an avalanche on Manaslu.
Rémy was a master of extreme skiing, with a unique philosophy and enthusiasm that involved pioneering descents down the world's steepest and highest peaks. "His approach to his sport and the alpine world felt so different, that when we met I knew I wanted him on the Arc’teryx Team”, said Tanja Kulkies, Arc’teryx European Marketing Manager.
"In the short time Rémy was on our team, he achieved many of his goals on descents and first descents, including his latest on la Grivola. Descending the SE face together with Boris Dufour 570 m, 45-50°, 5.3 E4. He told me it was 'Just fabulous!'"
Rémy also worked closely with our marketing team to help establish the first Arc’teryx Alpine Arc’ademy in Chamonix this year. "We will greatly miss Rémy's infectious zest for the outdoors, the way he would seek out new personal challenges in the mountains, and his upbeat positive candor. He will be with us as we make our own descents this season and seasons to come". Rest in peace.
