From Wales to Canada

We "met" Mark a few months ago when he started sharing the most beautiful photos with us on Facebook and Twitter, and so we thought it was time that you meet him too.

Based in Wales (Cardiff), Mark is a self-described enthusiastic photographer and traveller "who just hates being stuck inside, whatever the weather". Last year, he and his partner, Allison, decided to visit beautiful western Canada (our neck of the woods) for a few weeks.

"We visited Banff in the Rockies and were sorely tempted to move there! It snowed – being from the UK, we don't get much of that, and we loved it. We went to Lake Louise and were subjected to a snow blizzard – stunning place, highly recommended. My Atom LT jacket and Phase SV baselayer kept me toasty as I walked across the frozen lake to admire the view and take some shots."

"A chopper ride over the Rockies was definitely a highlight for me, especially as I'm not a fan of heights. We explored icy canyons, and my Venta SV kept out the winds and prevented me overheating after climbing back up the canyon. Frozen lakes, snow covered peaks, and mountains were all breathtaking. I thought I'd run out of memory cards!"

Mark plans to return again to Canada, but before that happens, he and Allison have Vietnam, Cambodia, South Africa, New Zealand, and Norway on their list. ("Rest assured, my Arc'teryx and Nikons will be the first things packed!") We've uploaded a handful of Mark's photos to an album on our Facebook page, and we can't wait to see more. In the meantime, you can follow his latest adventures on Mark's Instagram feed.
