Joe Grant’s Grand Reunion

Ten years ago, Arc'athlete Joe Grant came to Réunion, a small island east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, to work with a small organization that built primary schools. His host family told him about the Grand Raid, a 162km race that crosses the island, with 9,000m of combined climbing along the way.

At the time, Joe didn't know much about long distance running, and had no idea that he'd go on to become a world-class ultramarathon runner, but he promised that one day he'd come back for the race, and this week, he's doing just that, coinciding with the Grand Raid's twentieth anniversary. Check out his great blog post of breathtaking photos from the recon hike he did along the entire route.

Have a great race Joe!
