Return to Precipice Lake

We met Tiffany earlier this year when she started posting amazing photos from her outdoor adventures (and great questions about our gear) on our Twitter stream. We thought it was time that we introduce her to the rest of you, and share some photos from a recent expedition to Precipice Lake in Sequoia National Park.

Tiffany is an aerospace engineer, passionate about the space industry and protecting the wilderness. She started getting seriously involved in hiking a few years ago when she moved to California, and has become absolutely addicted ever since. She now spends practically every weekend in the Sierra Nevada backcountry.

Last summer, when Tiffany and her boyfriend hiked the High Sierra Trail, they fell in love with Precipice Lake ("I don't know what it was about the lake, but it was a magical place"), and decided that they had to come back again soon. After an expedition on the John Muir Trail earlier this year, it was time.

"The trip was amazing! Precipice Lake was stunning, and the weather was glorious the entire trip. We hiked over fifteen miles to Hamilton Lake on the first day, up to Precipice Lake the second day, and were back in civilization in the early afternoon of the third day (the last mile of fifteen in a single morning seems to take forever!)."

For this expedition, Tiffany brought the Altra 62 Pack ("comfy, roomy, and lightweight … my go-to pack"), Rampart Pants and Shorts ("fit like a charm"), Phase AR Zip Neck LS ("perfect for chilly mornings and nights"), Beta AR Jacket ("always bring it along"), and Venta LT Gloves ("kept my fingers warm, and I was still able to use my camera with them on"). That's quite the kit!

We've put a bunch of Tiffany's photos from Precipice Lake in an album on our Facebook page, and if you'd like to check in on some of her future expeditions, she's on Instagram and Flickr.

Thanks again Tiffany!
