SQMF 2013 Film Festival and Clinics
No place delivers world-famous climbing, gravity-defying bouldering, and huge-mountain culture better than Squamish, British Columbia. The 8th annual Squamish Mountain Festival clips in from July 17th to the 21st with a blaze of rock-related culture.
The prospect of hanging suspended hundreds (or thousands) of feet above ground has questionable appeal for some, but climbers experience a presence of mind and calm that they cannot find elsewhere. Watch, listen, and chat with filmmakers, climbers, and legends from the climbing world. Or, explore other worlds through the SQMF 2013 Film Festival: canyoneering around Vancouver, kayaking the highest waterfall in Mexico, peril and resolution in the Kyrgyztan Project, and counting the joys that each day brings. Featured guest speakers include legendary Wayne Merry and Arc'athlete Paul McSorley – definitely not to be missed.
Clinics will be running all day Saturday and Sunday, and most are already sold out! But one that still has room is Adventure Photography: "Get out your camera and put on your adventure cap; this workshop is a double-header. A classroom session to lay the ground rules of climbing photography – how, when, and what to look for, followed by how to string a series of pictures into a narrative. Next, get rigged up in the Smoke Bluffs by a professional guide and put that classroom lesson into action!"
We can't wait for another amazing Squamish Mountain Festival, and we hope to see you there!
