Franz Walter

Born: April 21, 1980
Current Residence: Munich, Germany

"I am working on projects with a heart that beats."

Franz Walter is a guy who wears many hats: commercial photographer, artist, storyteller, advisor, designer, and programmer. He studied Media Technology at the Technical University of Ilmenau, where he began his search for a way to combine tech and nature, thinking and doing throughout his life.

The outdoors have always been an important part of his life, being introduced early on to canoeing and skiing. Franz quickly added kayaking and traveling, which took him to such remote places as the Tatshenshini and Colorado rivers. Nowadays he is an all-rounder, with expeditions taking him from the Guyanese jungle to the Kyrgyz mountains, feeling safe and sound in a sea-kayak on Greenland's coastline, in a whitewater kayak somewhere in the European Alps, on skis in deep Swiss powder, or climbing on limestone in his home area, the Frankenjura.

Since 2007, Franz has been running a small design consultancy, nanuuq, based in Munich, Germany, working with professional athletes and outdoor brands on a wide range of projects. In 2012, he finished his first personal documentary project, Tyndyk featuring Arc'athlete Ines Papert, whom he also collaborated with on the Harbin Roadshow.

Franz is currently working on 'Made by Nomads', a creative collective of photographers, cameramen, and innovators, with a common goal of sharing knowledge and bringing future stories to life. Looking ahead, he would love to increase his work on narrative shorts using not only photography and camerawork but rich storytelling on the web.
