Snowboard

Not many people can say that their loyalty to the snowboard has changed other people’s lives, but Joey actually can. Joey grew up skiing but banded early on with boarder sisters and brothers, never giving into the two-plankers when they said he would be too slow during transitions. However, what they didn’t know is that if you want Joey to do something, tell him he can’t. Since then, Joey, who was one of the first Association of Canadian Mountain Guides ski guides on a snowboard, has shown non-believers that snowboards do belong in the backcountry. As an advocate for splitboarding, he is always keen to help and mentor younger riders. Joey was an early adopter of hard boots and now is even faster in transitions, much to the chagrin of many skiers he guides and rides with. Although Joey loves to travel, he loves his Revelstoke home the most. Joey can be found lead guiding in the Selkirks all winter and climbing his heart out all summer.
