Silas Rossi is, by definition, a problem solver. He grew up hiking on the coast of Maine and discovered the sport of climbing while studying engineering at the University of Maine. Under the mentorship of Jon Tierney, mountain guide and educator, Silas took several credit courses through the university's Maine Bound outdoor program. He eventually left engineering to pursue a career in mountain guiding while simultaneously obtaining a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
Silas received his IFMGA license in 2011 and founded Alpine Logic, a New York-based guide service providing custom rock, alpine and ski mountaineering adventures around the world. In addition to private guiding, Silas is also a member of the American Mountain Guides Association’s Instructor Team, teaching professional guide training courses.
For Silas, guiding is about listening to his clients, understanding what they want, and figuring out how to best deliver an exceptional experience while helping them achieve their goals -- whether they are first-time climbers or seasoned veterans. Having guided for nearly 20 years, Silas believes that being a guide is an ongoing process and he continues to hold himself -- and his peers -- to a high standard so they can collectively become smarter, better, and more proficient in their line of work.
When he's not guiding at home in the Gunks, Silas can often be found exploring more remote and wild places both near and far.
In his role as an Arc'teryx Ambassador, Silas combines decades of field time with his desire to constantly improve to help refine products and curate experiences that will serve their clients and communities for years to come.
